Assuming command of the 349th Civil Engineering Squadron
TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Lt. Col. Wayne M. Williams, addresses his troops Nov. 2, 2008 just after assuming command of the 349th Civil Engineering Squadron. Col. Linda Harlan, 349th Mission Support Group, officiated at the ceremony in the 22nd Airlift Squadron auditorium. Senior Master Sgt. Ronald Nielsen, 349th CES first sergeant, was the guidon bearer. Colonel Williams will be commanding the 349th CES in a time of significant change. Travis was one of three installations selected to be pilot test bases for the Civil Engineering Associate Unit program. “The Air Force Civil Engineering community is making a strong commitment to establishing reserve associate CE units, similar to the way our operations and maintenance group units already operate closely together,” said Colonel Williams. Since the evolution to an associate unit will mean the 349th CES will be working closely with its active-duty counterparts 60th Civil Engineer Squadron, Colonel Williams is well suited for the job. His civilian job is as the Programs Flight chief for the 60th Civil Engineer Squadron, where he is responsible for development and execution of all base contract construction projects.
