349th ALCF Food Drive Challenge
TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- How many of us have walked by the Holiday Food Bin sitting in the hallway thinking “I’ll swing by the Commissary and pick something up,” yet as the day goes on we get wrapped up in UTA events and let those good intentions slip right out of our thoughts. This year, the 349th Airlift Control Flight, a small 30-person unit assigned to the Wing actually took a few moments out of the November UTA schedule to capitalize on those good intentions. Reflecting on the recent down turn in the economy, unit members brought in non-perishable canned and boxed food items and topped off the unit’s UTA food drive efforts by gathering an additional $100.00 which was used to purchase more food items. Overall, 349th ALCF member’s donations averaged over $5.00 each, which does not really sound like much but in the long run will go a long way toward feeding some of the local area hungry families this Holiday Season. Please join the ALCF in supporting the 349th AMW Chaplain’s Office by filling up the Food Drive Bins in your buildings. The ALCF would like to challenge every unit in the 349th Wing to collect an average of $5.00 per unit member as they have done. And the 349th ALCF does not plan on resting on their laurels! They plan to increase their $5.00 average per member collection to an amount even greater. Please pass the word for others to follow their lead!(U.S. Air Force photo/Courtesy photo shown left to right: Staff Sgt. Lenora Gallegos, 349th ALCF, SSgt Alex Calderon, 349th ALCF, Technical Sgt.
