349th AMDS

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Staff Sergeants Richard Giles (far right) and Jason Clark and test the fit of medical facemasks worn by Tech. Sgt. Daniel Guerrero and Staff Sgt. Elle Franz (far left). These disposable respirators help protect health care providers from exposure to airborne, communicable diseases, such as tuberculosis or chickenpox. This routine test introduces airborne particles of a strong yet harmless bittering agent into the air around the mask. If the wearer doesn’t taste anything awful by the end of the test, the mask is a good fit. Sergeant Clark is a member of the 349th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, bioenvironmental shop; Sergeants Giles, Guerrero and Franz are members of the Aeromedical Staging Squadron.
