My sincerest thanks to all of the members of the 349th Air Mobility Wing on a very successful 2008 Holiday Canned Food Drive. We received 4230 pounds of food. The first 3000 was given to Mission Solano last week and the rest will be delivered this week. The Director of Mission Solano said that they used the food that the 349th donated to fix meals for 118 families this past weekend. He will use the food given this week to feed dozens more. He was very appreciative toward the Air Force Reserve and is sure that those who were fed feel the same way.

I want to give a special thanks to the three units in the wing with the highest number of pounds given to the Wing Canned Food Drive: First place again went to the 349 Aircraft Maintenance Squadron with 735 pounds, second went to the 70th ARS,79th ARS,749th AMXS with 575 pounds and third went to 349th Mission Support Squadron and Headquarters AMW with 442 lbs.

Thanks to everyone for participating and making this food drive so successful. We expect to receive some additional food over the next few weeks and will donate this to
Mission Solano by the end of January. Last year the final total was 4295 pounds, so we are right on last year's numbers.

I must also give a big "Thank You" to the 349th Airlift Control Flight. They may not have had the highest weight donation to the '08 Canned Food Drive, but they did give an
average of over $5 per person. A small flight that gave big for a worthy cause! We also want to thank Haylee Priest (dad is Tech. Sgt. Priest in 312th Airlift Squadron) and Cambridge Elementary for their donations. We appreciate Maj. Roger Law spear heading participation with his unit and with Boeing as they made their own box, decorated it and provided more than 100 pounds of food.

This time of year is about family, friends and community and we have experienced the generosity of the 349th AMW once again and I thank my God for each of you.  Blessings to you this Holiday Season!
