349th Air Mobility Wing announces death of reservist

With deepest regret, we must announce the untimely passing of Chief Master Sgt. Robert Neal Ivey, 53, the Air Transportation Manager of the 55th Aerial Port Squadron, Travis Air Force Base, Calif., who died in a motorcycle accident riding to work Dec. 16, 2013. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident, which occurred on the I-80 Freeway in Sacramento.

Memorial arrangements will be announced at a later date.

A full-time Air Reserve Technician, Chief Ivey was a long-time member of the Travis Community. He joined the Air Force Reserve's 349th Air Mobility Wing in 1996, where he would spend the remainder of his career. In his 17 years at Travis, Chief Ivey served in a number of positions of responsibility and was widely known and respected for his professionalism and dedication to his troops.

Chief Ivey was a veteran of service in Afghanistan and was twice awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.
