Air Force innovation is an integral part of how we train and employ our forces, develop our capabilities, and move toward a leaner, more efficient Air Force.

By recruiting innovative people, the Air Force capitalizes on inherent creativity to find better and smarter ways to approach and solve our nation's national security challenges. Today's Air Force continues to pursue game-changing innovations, such as hypersonic weapons, nanotechnology, directed energy, unmanned aerial systems and autonomous systems.

The Air Force is comprised of more than 680,000 Airmen, made up of Active Duty, Guard, Reserve and civilians. Today more than 25,000 Airmen are deployed to more than 90 locations around the globe.

The Air Force has flown more than 64,000 sorties in support of homeland defense operations and more than one million airlift and tanker sorties in support of Middle East operations.

Every day the Air Force flies more than 60 Intelligence, Reconnaissance and Surveillance (ISR) remotely piloted patrols, capturing 1,200 hours of full-motion video.

Airmen, today and beginning from 1947, are bound together by our warrior ethos, our core values and our approach to problem solving with innovation. Editor's note: information compiled from the U.S. Air Force Key Talking Points, The Air Force Birthday
