The 349thAMW awarded 17th Air Force Outstanding Unit Award Published Jan. 8, 2015 By Lt. Col. Robert Couse-Baker 349th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The 349th Air Mobility Wing has been awarded the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award for meritorious service Oct 1, 2011 to Sept. 30, 2013. During this period, the men and women of the 349th AMW delivered America's hope and might around the globe with the C-5B Galaxy, KC-10A Extender and C-17 Globemaster III. The more than 15,000 hours of airpower moved nearly 34,000 tons of cargo, 36,000 passengers and offloaded more than 15 million pounds of fuel. With a diverse set of expeditionary skills, members deployed to provide aeromedical evacuation, security, mortuary affairs, explosive ordnance disposal and aircraft maintenance in support of combatant commanders. Here at home station, the 349th worked hand-in-hand with its active duty partners to ensure the efficient stewardship of public resources and foster the highest standards of readiness, retention and professional development of its people. This is the 17th award of the AFOUA to the 349th AMW since its first in 1965.
