349th Air Mobility Wing announces annual awards winners at banquet

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. --  Members of the 349th Air Mobility Wing gathered for the Annual Awards Banquet, held at the Delta Breeze Club, Feb. 21, 2015.

During the ceremony, the unit highlighted the achievements of its top military and civilian performers, and included a new category to recognize military spouses who have made significant contributions throughout the year.

The event's guest speaker was retired Chief Master Sgt. Christine Taylor, who served as the 349th AMW enlisted leader from October 2007 through April 2009. As part of her speech Taylor asked everyone in the room, especially the event nominees, to mentor others as they strive to reach the top.

"You have to have a purpose and you have to help other people find their purpose," said Taylor. "For everybody receiving an award tonight, who are you bringing with you? Who will you help out?"

At the end of the night the event's winners were announced. The year 2014 winners are:
-Airman: Staff Sgt. Alexander Bombita, who is part of the 349th Mission Support Group
-Noncommissioned Officer: Staff Sgt. Matthew Carlson, 349th Maintenance Group
-Senior Noncommissioned Officer: Senior Master Sgt. Kimberly Reay, 349th Maintenance Group
-First Sergeant: Senior Master Sgt. Lantrel Stockton, 349th Maintenance Group
-Company Grade Officer: 1st Lt. Robert Schroeder, 349th Mission Support Group
-Honor Guardsman:  Staff Sgt. Alexander Bombita, 349th Security Forces Squadron
-Recruiter: Master Sgt. John Erzen
-Civilian Category I: Ms. Kristi Carlson, 349th Mission Support Group
-Civilian Category II: Ms. Jessica Knight, 349th Maintenance Group
-Key Spouse: Mrs. Mollie Teames
