349 AMW holds assumption of command for MSG

   U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Corey L. Chance assumed leadership of the 349th Mission Support Group during an assumption of command ceremony November 6, 2022, at Travis Air Force Base, California.

Col. Lee E. Merkle, 349th Air Mobility Wing commander, presided over the ceremony, handing the reins to Chance. The event was attended by 349th leadership and Reserve Citizen Airmen.

Chance will oversee the 349th MSG which is responsible for providing mission and personnel support to the 349th AMW, which is the largest associate wing in the Air Force Reserve. The wing is comprised of more than 3,000 reservists, Air Reserve Technicians - ARTS, and civilian employees.

“I am always being told that these events are a big deal,” said Chance addressing those in attendance. “But I am not a big deal, the Mission Support Group is the big deal.”
