Airmen of the 349th Air Mobility Wing,

It is with heavy heart that I share with you the tragic loss of Capt. Ronald W. Hooper, who died in an off-duty aircraft accident on Nov. 10, 2020.

Capt. Hooper, a member of the 349th Maintenance Squadron, was a highly respected and valued Air Force officer, Wingman, and friend. I ask that you honor his memory by respecting the privacy of his family while they mourn this tremendous loss.

When information becomes available regarding the possibility of a memorial service, it will be shared with the Wing.

If you or someone you know would like to speak with a chaplain, one can be reached after hours at (707) 290-0351, or during UTAs at (707) 424-0308. The Wing Chaplain’s Office is located upstairs in the wing headquarters building (Bldg. 280, Rm. 203).

Alternatively, Dr. Michael Slack, director of psychological health, can be reached during normal duty hours at (707) 424-1674, or you can contact the Veterans Crisis Line at (800) 273-8255.

My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to Capt. Hooper’s family, friends, and all members of the 349th Air Mobility Wing.

Respectfully,

LEE E. MERKLE, Colonel, USAF

Commander, 349th Air Mobility Wing
