349th Wing commander guest speaker at Veterans Home of California

Col. Jay Flournoy, 349th Air Mobility Wing commander, was one of the guest speaker for annual ceremonies at the Veterans Home of California, Yountville on Veterans Day 2010.

This year, also celebrated the grand opening of the long awaited Member Services Center.

The colonel and his family were treated to a tour of the new facility, which includes a bowling center, Heroes Cafe, activities office, Lee Lounge and Creative Arts Center, the Lincoln Library and Grant Hall, where the ceremony was staged. The center was constructed for certification as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design building.

The Yountville Veterans Home is the largest in California, with more than 1,100 veterans in residence. Volunteer Airmen from the 349th AMW will be back at the Home Thanksgiving Day to serve dinner and visit with the veterans.
