Vargas assumes command of the 82nd Aerial Port Squadron in a change of command ceremony Oct. 24, 2015 at Travis Air Force Base. Col. Stuart Toft, 349th Mission Support Group commander, presides over the ceremony and the symbolic passing of the guidon. The former 82nd APS commander, Lt. Col. Mark G. Fratrick leaves the 82nd APS after decades in the squadron. Vargas joins the 349th Air Mobility Wing from the Pentagon.
