301st AS welcomes new commander

Lt. Col. Allan R. Davis presents a challenge coin to his son, Brandon, at the conclusion of the 301st Airlift Squadron change of command ceremony in which the colonel assumed command of the unit from Col. William B. Featherston Jun. 7, 2008. Colonel Davis is a command pilot with more than 4,500 flying hours, including more than 130 in combat. He is a commercial airline pilot in civilian life. The Air Force Reserve associate squadron is assigned to the 349th Air Mobility Wing and flies the C-17 Globemaster III, the newest cargo aircraft in the Air Force inventory. The 301st AS traces its lineage to the 301st Troop Carrier Squadron, which first saw combat in World War II when it dropped paratroopers in preparation for Normandy invasion Jun. 6, 1944.
