C17 arrival
Brig. Gen. Thomas M. Gisler, Jr., 349th Air Mobility Wing Commander, welcomes the sixth of 13 C-17s scheduled to be stationed at Travis along with Reserve Maj. Gen. Allan R. Poulin, Vice Commander, Air Force Reserve Command, Robins AFB, Ga, who piloted the aircraft, Dec. 20. The C-17 is capable of rapid, strategic delivery of troops and all types of cargo. The design of the aircraft allows it to operate on small, austere airfields. It can take off and land on runways as short as 3,500 feet and 90 feet wide.
