Red Flag

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- An Airmen assigned to the Japan Air Self-Defense Force gets up close during a refueling mission at Red Flag-Alaska 10-1 Oct. 22, 2009. Air Force Reservist Master Sgt. Tony Calhoun, boom operator with the 70th Air Refueling Squadron here, is at the controls preparing to hook-up and refuel a Japanese F-15. Red Flag-Alaska 10-1, staged out of Eielson AFB, gave U.S. and allied pilots, aircrews and operational support Airmen the chance to train and improve their air combat skills to be ready for a myriad of worldwide contingencies. Citizen warriors assigned to the 349th Air Mobility Wing participate in Red Flag and other exercises to remain ready to support the mission and the war fighter. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Robert Rossman)
