Travis reservists give thanks at Yountville Veterans Home
For more years than some 349th Air Mobility Wing reservists can remember, they have spent Thanksgiving with the veterans at the California Veterans Home, Yountville.
Every year is memorable, mostly for the time spent visiting with those who served before us, and paved the way. About 75 volunteers showed up this year to help serve the midday turkey dinner, which included a bounty of side dishes, salads, desserts and be...verages.
Joining the reservists were eight Napa Valley Chapter, Red Cross volunteers, along with two yellow Labrador Retriever "puppies in training" to be service dogs, hopefully to veterans who need them. The joy the veterans got from visiting with "Patriot" and "Captain" could be read on their happy faces, and the volunteers were delighted as well.
This year's successful event was sponsored by the 349th AMW Company Grade Officers Council, and coordinated by Capt. Maria Rocio Vazquez and Lt. Heather Bradley.
