Col. Stephanie W. Williams, commander of the 349th Operation Group was a guest speaker at the 17th annual Vacaville Jazz Festival, Sunday, September 18, 2016. This was a free, three-day event, also dubbed the “Save Our Music” festival, supporting music events and educational programs in Vacaville schools, which featured more than 30 artists and 300 musicians at two main venues, Town Square in downtown Vacaville and at the Nut Tree complex. The Military Tribute on Sunday had a pause at 5 p.m. for a military presentation hosted by Suderow, with special guest Vacaville Mayor Len Augustine, a retired Air Force colonel; Col. John Klein Jr., the 60th Air Mobility Wing Base Commander. 349th Operation Group commander, out in community supporting a good cause

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The 17th Annual Vacaville, California Jazz Festival culminated with a military appreciation concert Sept. 18 at the Nut Tree Plaza.

The concert featured the U. S. Air Force Band of the Golden West’s The Commanders Jazz Ensemble, playing big band sounds and the full scope of jazz – traditional jazz, cool, bop, swing, Broadway and patriotic music.

Opening remarks were provided by Vacaville Mayor Len Augustine, followed by Travis and Beale Air Force Base leaders. Col. John Klein, 60th Air Mobility Wing commander, and Col. Stephanie Williams, 349th Operations Group commander, both provided remarks for Team Travis.

Col. Jacob Holmgren, 548th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group commander spoke for Team Beale. Over the course of the weekend festival, The Commanders also taught music clinics to local schools young musicians.
