TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Col. Scott McLaughlin, 349th Operations Group commander, passes the guidon to Lt. Col. Cristina Soares as she assumes command of the 79th Air Refueling Squadron during a ceremony Aug. 24, 2013, at Travis Air Force Base, Calif.

A command pilot with more than 6,500 flying hours, Soares previously served as the 79th ARS chief pilot.
