349th AMW announces October UTAs moved to November dates Published Oct. 15, 2013 By Lt. Col. Robert Couse-Baker 349th Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Both of the 349th Air Mobility Wing's October UTAs are rescheduled into November to create four-day, Friday-through-Monday drill weekends. The combined A-Flight Unit Training Assembly will be Nov. 1-4, and B-Flight will be Nov. 15-18, 2013. This change will allow the wing to restart training operations in an efficient and effective manner, after the partial government shutdown is ended. "I appreciate our members' time and value their flexibility throughout these challenging times," said Col. Matt Burger, 349th AMW commander. "Many of our members will need to make alternate plans to complete the UTA and I have asked unit commanders to support these requests to the maximum extent possible," he said. Based the decision made to reschedule October UTAs to November, all October lodging reservations have been cancelled. The automated lodging system has been modified to accommodate the four-day weekends in November. Members may make reservations for/check in as early as Thursday before the UTA and check out as late as Monday after UTA. This adjustment will be for this November only. Squadrons are planning how to make best use of the unique opportunities afforded by a long drill weekend. "We are working to provide quality readiness training and an array of professional development opportunities both four-day UTAs," Colonel Burger said. Please contact your unit directly for scheduling arrangements.
