Crucible. What comes to mind when you hear the word crucible? Well, if you're a mid-level manager at the 349th Air Mobility Wing, what comes to mind is a great leadership development opportunity.

The Crucible, sponsored by Col. Patrick Williams, 349th vice commander, is designed to enhance Airmen' s knowledge of leadership decisions, challenges, and responsibilities.

"Basically, it's leadership development," said Williams. "It's an hour during lunch, consisting of a 20 minute brief and then a Q & A session."

Col. Williams participates in the training because he's already hit the bumps and tripped along the way in his career.

"We hold the training twice a month. It's open to everyone, but mainly captain and technical sergeants and above attend," said Williams.

The November A flight discussion topic dealt with OPRs and EPRs. The facilitators included Lt. Col. Christina Soares, 79th Air Refueling Squadron commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Michael Delgiacco, 70th ARS chief engineer.

The Crucible is held on both A and B flights from noon-1 p.m. at the 349th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron training room.
