Family, friends and coworkers gathered Dec. 21, 2013 to memorialize an Airman from the 349th Air Mobility Wing.

A memorial service was held in the First Street Chapel here to honor the life of Senior Airman Jonathan B. Hart who passed away on Nov. 18, 2013.

"It's with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of a service member, Senior Airman Jonathan Hart; but with overwhelming joy we celebrate his life, his friendships and his selfless and meaningful contributions to our nation, the Air Force, our unit and our military family," said Lt. Col. Michael Sovitsky, 349th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron commander.

Hart joined the Air Force Reserve in October 2010 and served with the 349 AMXS as a C-5 Galaxy crew chief. In his three years in the military, Airman Hart's service was marked by exceptional motivation, a relentless drive to succeed and an unmatched work ethic, said Sovitsky.

"He was a pivotal member of our C-5 aircraft maintenance unit," said Sovitsky. "He was a valued Airman and teammate. No matter the task, Jonathan humbly delivered results while putting a smile on people's faces. He will be missed, but he will not be forgotten."

Hart's mother and brothers joined his military family for the service. His brother, William Morton, shared some words written by his mother.

"We want to share with you the son and brother we loved," Morton read. "He touched us all in a special way. He was smart, kind, funny, always helpful ... He was unforgettable and loved. Johnny loved life and we loved him."

Hart's oldest brother, Damion Cox, also read some words written by his younger brother, Antonio Cruz.

"As my older brother, he showed me the traits of being a man - courage, strength, honor," Cox read. "Hart, as you all know him, can always live on in our hearts."
