349th Aerospace Medicine Squadron holds retirement ceremony for top-notch dental technician

Tech. Sgt. Jennifer Parham retires from the Air Force Reserve during an official ceremony held on March 8, 2015 at Travis Air Force Base, Calif.

Parham, assigned to the 349th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, retired after 21 years of faithful service to the United States Air Force. She spent the first fifteen years of her career as an active-duty Airman, but separated from active duty to join the Air Force Reserve in 2009.

After enlisting in 1994, she trained to become a prophylaxis technician and was stationed with the 18th Dental Squadron, Kadena AFB, Japan. Her next assignment was with the 81st Dental Squadron at Keesler AFB, Miss. At Keesler, her leadership skills did not go unnoticed, and she became the Assistant NCO in charge of Keesler's first two-year dental residency program. In 2004, she became the NCO in charge of the Periodontal Dentistry section at Keesler. Two years later, she received two Spotlight on Excellence awards and was voted-in as the Booster Club President of the dental squadron.

When Parham separated from the active-duty, she joined the 349th Air Mobility Wing and assumed the position of Dental NCO in charge of A-flight.As Dental NCO, Parham trained, updated and monitored upgrade training for all assigned dental technicians to ensure 100 percent of training objectives in order to increase the efficiency within the Dental Service.

"She is an amazing Airman, mentor and leader," said Col. Luan Le, presiding officer of the retirement ceremony, also with the 349th AMDS.

Parham ended her retirement ceremony with a farewell speech to the audience, thanking everyone for their support. "I've had a beautiful career," she said. "It's been an honor to serve the United States Air Force for the last 21 years."
