TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Col. Patrick Brady-Lee, 349th Air Mobility Wing commander, hosted an informal meet and greet for current and incoming Honorary Commanders at Travis Air Force Base, March 7. The event, held to kick off the year, brought together local honorary commanders, civic leaders, and Golden Bears to learn more about the 349th Air Mobility Wing’s mission and discuss the importance of their partnership in strengthening community ties. Nearly 20 community leaders attended the event.
The Honorary Commanders Program, which serves as a bridge between Travis Air Force Base’s senior leadership and civilian partners, aims to foster a deeper understanding of Air Force and wing missions. Through this program, participants engage with Air Force leadership, gain insight into the challenges and accomplishments of the military, and work to build lasting relationships, which benefit both the wing and the local community. Through continued engagement, the program offers both the Air Force and civilian leaders the opportunity to share perspectives, tackle challenges, and celebrate shared goals. It is an important step in promoting civic appreciation for the Air Force and its personnel, ultimately strengthening the bond between Travis Air Force Base and the surrounding community.
The 349th Air Mobility Wing, located at Travis Air Force Base, Calif., is the largest associate wing in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. More than 2,700 reservists and civilian personnel are assigned to the wing. With the arrival of the KC-46A Pegasus at Travis AFB in 2023, the 349 AMW flies it along with the C-5 Super Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster III.
