Legendary Air Force maintenance officer, Gen Marquez, visits with Travis Team maintainers

Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Leo Marquez spoke with Team Travis members here about his illustrious career with the Air Force while visiting in Northern California, May 15.

Gen. Marquez was instrumental in the development of maintenance awards resulting in the creation of the Lt. Gen. Leo Marquez Awards. The "Marquez Award" is one of the highest honor a maintainer can achieve today , the award is presented to the outstanding maintainers annually.

Gen Marquez is legendary in the Air Force, particularly in the maintenance and logistics career field. Gen Marquez retired in 1987 as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics and Engineering. His career spanned the Vietnam and Cold War eras where he gained a reputation as an innovative leader who made things happen.
