349th Civil Engineer Squadron fire fighter ‘hits the trifecta’ at Fire Academy

Airman 1st Class William D. Wonnell received a surprise visit Sun., May 2, from Col. Barrett Broussard, vice wing commander, during the 349th Civil Engineer Squadron end of the duty day formation.

Airman Wonnell, a fire fighter, just returned from his training at the Louis F. Garland Fire Academy, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas. Colonel Broussard presented him three certificates.

The first certificate named him an honor graduate from Air Force Basic Military Training. The second was the Ace Award from the fire academy, for his 100 percent score on the Airport Firefighter certification test. The third certificate came from Air Education and Training Command, certifying him as "top graduate for superior academic achievement and high standards of leadership, teamwork and character."

Colonel Broussard also presented Airman Wonnell with his personal Wing coin.

Airman Wonnell graduated basic in January and the fire academy April 22.
