Travis Week supports National POW-MIA Recognition Day Published Aug. 31, 2010 By 349th Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The Vacaville Veterans Organizations and Auxiliaries cordially invite members of the Travis Team to attend the National POW/MIA Recognition Day Ceremony to be held on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 9:30 AM. This is another great event to help 'Travis Salute Solano County' during Travis Week. Travis Team members are welcome to join the local community for this very special ceremony that will pay tribute to former prisoners of war who served this nation in time of crisis and it will also be a time to remember those that are still listed as missing in action. Solano County is home to 18 former prisoners of war from World War II - Vietnam. This year will also mark the passing of two of our most active former POW's: Lt. Colonel (retired) Fred Pelser and Lt. Colonel (retired) William Bryan. both USAF retired, both of which where instrumental in the continued awareness of this issue. The ceremony will be held at the Solano County Vietnam Veterans Memorial located at 630 Merchant Street in Vacaville.
