Active-duty military, veterans and military retirees and their families can enjoy a free day of boat launching and parking at Solano County parks on Veterans Day.

This one-day fee waiver will be good on Thursday, Nov. 11, at Lake Solano County Park north of Vacaville, Sandy Beach County Park near Rio Vista and Belden's Landing boat launch near Suisun City.

"This is a small token of our appreciation for the men and women who have served our country," said Supervisor John Vasquez, Chair of the Board of Supervisors. "We hope as many veterans as possible can take advantage of this offer to spend time with family and friends while enjoying some outdoor fun at our beautiful parks."

During this one-day event, the usual $5 daily parking fee and $2 boat launch fee will be waived. Camping, group picnic pad, and other fees still apply.

The fee waiver is offered to all who present a valid military identification card, honorable discharge record (DD-214 or World War II service record) or Veterans Affairs identification card at Lake Solano, Belden's Landing, and Sandy Beach County Parks. Lynch Canyon Open Space is closed for the season. Both County residents and non-residents are eligible.

"This event is one way that Solano County recognizes the service, sacrifice and community contributions of the many military personnel in our county and region," said Dan Sykes, Solano County Parks Manager. "Fall is a great time to visit the County Parks for fishing in the Delta or to enjoy picnicking or kayaking during the parks' less-crowded off-season."

Picnic areas are first-come, first-served and open at 8 a.m. Closing times are 6 p.m. at Sandy Beach Park and 4 p.m. at Lake Solano Park. Boat launch ramps at Sandy Beach Park and Belden's Landing are open 24 hours per day.
