Ellen Hatfield 349th Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Memorial Day 2011 was an occasion for Team Travis Airmen to be out in Solano County communities giving back at local ceremonies. Reservist, Lt. Col. Siegfried Richert, 945th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron commander, delivered the keynote address at the Vacaville/Elmira Cemetery, during their annual ceremony. The colonel is a first generation American, and told the story of his parents escaping the Nazi regime for a new life, to pursue their dream in a free country, and how our war dead paid the ultimate price to keep freedom alive, and bring it to others around the world.
