After more than 33 years of faithful service 349th Aerospace Medicine Squadron Superintendent retires

 After more than 33 years of faithful service to her country, Chief Master Sgt. Denise P. Butler, Superintendent, 349th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, celebrates her many years of service during a ceremony held in her honor at Travis Air Force Base, Calif. on April 7, 2013.

Chief Butler started her military career on the May 28, 1979, less than one year after graduating high school. After completing basic Military Training and Technical School, Butler joined the work force as a Heating Systems Specialist, assigned to the 42nd Civil Engineering Squadron, Loring AFB, Maine.

In 1984, Butler joined the Reserve component of the Air Force and cross-trained into medical field as a Med Tech assigned to the 514th USAF Clinic. She earned her National Medical Service Certification as a National Emergency Medical Technician and went on to take the State of California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians Examination awarding her as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.

During her 33 year career, Butler participated in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Just Cause, Restore Hope, Northern and Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom.

More than 100 service members, retirees, and civilians attended her retirement celebration. Her mother, three children, two grandchildren, and many other family members were in attendance to honor Butler.
