TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- One of the key programs of the National Committee of the Employer Support of Guard and Reserve is the Patriot Award, recognizing outstanding support provided by employers to their military employees.
On Jan. 17, 2019, two supervisors of the Coca-Cola Company in American Canyon were honored with this award, submitted by their reservist employee, Tech. Sgt. Michael J. Simas, who is assigned to the 55th Aerial Port Squadron at Travis AFB. The California chairperson, Brig Gen (U.S. Army, ret) James Combs made the presentations to two supervisors of Simas, Jerrod Clark and Gregory Sisson.
Simas said that in his four years with the company, during his military absences, the continued to cover his pay and benefits. They hired someone to cover his position as well, and are supportive of all their military employees.
Additionally, they generously support veterans, including the Yountville Veterans Home, with donations for events.
