The annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon and Awards at the California Veterans Home, Yountville, recognizes groups and individuals who give selflessly to our treasured veterans living there. Travis Air Force Base Airmen were one of the groups receiving an award for all the volunteer efforts they provide throughout the year. Airmen from the 349th Air Mobility Wing have been serving the Thanksgiving meal for more than 25 years through Operation Give Thanks, and visiting on Father's Day weekend to provide a champagne brunch during Operation Gratitude. Additionally, groups of Airmen from the 349th and 60th AMWs, as well as the 621st Contingency Response Group, decorate the Home for the holidays with Operation Holiday Cheer, and help make the annual Fourth of July celebration the success it always is, by supporting events throughout the day, culminating with a grand fireworks display. Accepting the award for Travis here, is Senior Master Sgt., retired, Ellen Hatfield, 349th AMW public affairs, with Ms. Gwen Robinson, Home staff member.
