A little taste of customs and courtesies, drill and a retreat ceremony, and getting up close and personal with some military hardware was on display for the Travis Air Force Base 2017 Honorary Commanders Bootcamp April 6, 2017.

About 25 HCC and their military counterparts met at the Paul P. Ramoneda Airman Leadership School for training from the ALS instructors.

Mentoring was provided by HCC alumni, and Travis Golden Bears, Ms. Sandy Person and Mr. Scott Farmer. After a lively question and answer period, the HCCs were marched outside to the drill pad for some basic instructions in facing movements, closing with a retreat ceremony, retiring the flag.

From there, they boarded a bus for the short drive to the 621st Contingency Response Wing (West) Deployment Facility, for a “Line of Fire” demonstration. Known as the Air Force’s “911 Force,” the CRW Airmen had unpacked and set up a display of the spectrum of equipment they are required to travel with to set up a bare base camp, from the ground up.

Honorees attending from the 349th AMW were Dr. Roger Andersen, HCC to Lt. Col. Travis Rowley, 312th Airlift Squadron commander, and Ms. Mary Gordon, HCC to Lt. Col. Joe Wall, 79th Air Refueling Squadron commander.
