Chief Master Sergeant JOE G. GONZALEZ

CMSgt Joe G. Gonzalez is the Command Chief, 349th Air Mobility Wing, Travis Air Force Base, California. He serves as the commander’s primary advisor regarding the welfare, morale, operational readiness, and discipline of the enlisted force. He is responsible for ensuring assigned units and personnel are properly organized, trained and equipped, and ready to support national security requirements across the full spectrum of operations, from war to contingency situations. 


CMSgt Gonzalez entered military service on October of 1991 as a Reconnaissance Man in the United States Marine Corps. He was assigned to Charlie Company of the 4th Reconnaissance Battalion where he served eight years and specialized in various weaponry. After a short break in service, he enlisted as a Senior Airman in the Air Force Reserve Command. He attended technical school at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland AFB, Texas and then was assigned to the 26th Aerial Port Squadron also at JBSA-Lackland AFB, Texas, where he held a variety of air transportation leadership positions. He has experience in several joint exercises as well as deployments in direct support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDRING FREEDOM and INHERENT RESOLVE. Prior to his current position, the CMSgt was the Command Chief for the 315th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina.
