Colonel (Dr.) John “NASA” Langell is Commander of the 349th Medical Group, one of four groups assigned to the Air Force Reserve Command's 349th Air Mobility Wing, located at Travis Air Force Base, California. As Commander, he is responsible for the operations of three reserve medical units: the 349th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, the 349th Aeromedical Staging Squadron and the 349th Medical Squadron. He is the principal medical advisor to the Wing Commander, Travis Air Force Base.

A tradition for Travis Air Force Base is the annual community Holiday Concert Series by the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West. This year, as in the past, they continue to bring joy, delight and world class music to young and old alike. Helping to kick off the Dec. 3, concert at the Vacaville Performing Arts Theater was Col. (Dr) John Langell, 349th Medical Group commander. He left behind 64 inches of snow near Salt Lake City, Utah, which is home. Under the direction of Capt. Rafael F. Toro-Quinones, the band played a variety of holiday selections, with vocal performances by Amn First Class Stephanie Allen, Senior Amn Michelle Doolittle, and SrA George Brahler, recently named Bandsman of the Year, and performing in his final holiday concert here.
