Register to vote deadline Oct. 24.
Election day is fast approaching, as is the deadline to register to vote in the state of California. To vote in the Nov. 8 general election, the deadline is Oct. 24. That deadline varies from state to state, so if you are on orders here at the 349th Air Mobility Wing on election day, you'll need to make sure you are registered in your home state by the deadline there. If you are voting by absentee ballot, that deadline may differ from in person voting, or online, if that option is available. For dates and deadlines, visit: https://www.usa.gov/voter-registration-deadlines, or https://www.vote.org/voter-registration-deadlines/ Think your vote doesn't count, that you can't make a difference, then consider the election of 2000. In Florida, the election was so close and contested, it was eventually decided by a divided U.S. Supreme Court, 5-4, in Bush v. Gore. For more information, including electronic voter registration and more, visit https://www.fvap.gov, or contact the 349th AMW voting assistance officer, Ms. Ellen Hatfield, public affairs, 707-424-3936, or ellen.hatfield.5@us.af.mil.
