Today marks the 17th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Here at Travis, we will be commemorating the event with a Patriot's Day ceremony at the wing's headquarters from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. There will be a formation on the front lawn at the Brennan Circle flag pole in front of bldg. 51. Dress is UOD. Throughout the two hours, TAPS will play four times at 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m. and 10:07 a.m., representing the time when each plane crashed on Sept. 11, 2001. The names of those who were lost on flights as well as military and first responders lost in the aftermath will be read between the playing of TAPS. Proper customs and courtesies for this event are as follows: While outdoors, personnel in uniform will render a salute for the entirety of the song. Civilians will place their right hand over their heart for the entirety of the song. All vehicles will come to a complete stop for the entirety of the song. While indoors, all personnel are encouraged to pause in remembrance.
