Lieutenant Colonel Jill N. Sliger

Lt Col Jill N. Sliger is the Interim/ Deputy Commander for the 349th Operations Group, Travis Air Force Base, California.  As Deputy Group Commander, she assists in leading the largest operations group in the Air Force Reserve Command with four flying squadrons, an aeromedical evacuation squadron, an operations support squadron, and an air mobility operations squadron assigned. Lt Col Sliger is responsible for the leadership, management, administration, and development of programs to train and maintain combat ready personnel. In partnership with its active-duty host wing, the group operates the C-5M Super Galaxy, the KC-10A Extender and the C-17 Globemaster III.

Lt Col Sliger began her U.S. Air Force career as a C-5 loadmaster with the 301st Airlift Squadron at Travis AFB in 1995.  After earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography from Sonoma State University, she earned a commission in 2001 and was selected for Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training by the 349th Air Mobility Wing.  Upon graduation from Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma in 2003, she returned to the 301st Airlift Squadron to fly the C-5 Galaxy.  She was immediately activated for Operation IRAQI/ENDURING FREEDOM, and used the combat experience for upgrade to Aircraft Commander before the squadron conversion to the C-17 Globemaster III.  In 2006, she attended C-17 initial qualification training and upgraded to instructor and evaluator pilot, holding a variety of positions in the squadron related to operations.  In 2016, Lt Col Sliger was selected for the KC-10 Director of Operations position.  In 2017, she was partially mobilized in support of Operation SPARTAN SHIELD and flew missions in support of Operations FREEDOM SENTINEL, INHERENT RESOLVE and RESOLUTE SUPPORT while deployed.  Prior to her current position, Lt Col Sliger was the Chief of Standardization and Evaluation, 349th Operations Group at Travis AFB.
